Kristian is an award winnning Landscape Architect and Garden Designer based in the South West.
The Great British Countryside is more than an iconic, beautiful, productive and diverse landscape; it is an idea deeply ingrained within the National psyche and one that seems to infiltrate my work at every level. Growing up in the Cotswolds it is also a key part of my own personal identity, and indeed some of my earliest memories are to this backdrop. I have a strong love of the arts, but enjoy them most when combined with a technical approach, working with the natural environment and the passage of time. I aim to understand the spirit of a place, working sensitively with this to develop concepts and design details.
I feel that my work is humanistic in character and informed by the social responsibility we have as Landscape Architects. In 2019 Kristian was named RHS Young Designer of the Year. His show garden, The Phytosanctuary Garden, explored the threat of the plant pathogen Xylella fastidiosa and was the only garden to be awarded a Gold Medal at the show.
